Enjoy the visit to the Casa de les Punxes, and end your experience with a vermouth at the rooftop!

Did you know that the origin of the vermouth goes back to the Greek period, when Hippocrates put to macerate wine with absinthe and dictamnus, obtaining the wine called Hippocratic in the Middle Ages?

In the middle of the century is when vermouth appears in the capital of Baix Camp, specifically in Reus, when it was included into the offer of drinks along with the great white wines of the Camp de Tarragona area, such as the varieties of macabeo, parellada and xarel·lo. The vermouth, then, was the last to arrive but in a few years it was consolidated in the Reusian appetizers.

At Casa de les Punxes we want to honour this century-old tradition, so we launched an activity that you can not refuse this summer!

This event includes an audioguided tour and a vermouth in our rooftop. Are you going to miss it?

May 2018: Puig i Cadafalch House’s Passport

Josep Puig i Cadafalch (1867 - 1956) is undoubtedly one of the most important architects of Catalan modernism. If we take into account the modernist triad, Antoni Gaudí, Domènech i Muntaner and Josep Puig i Cadafalch, we can deduce that the latest one deserves a separate chapter, as he was the only one who stood out in various branches of knowledge. Precisely, thanks to these three magnificent figures there is no doubt that the modernist architecture in Barcelona is one of the richest in Europe.

Puig i Cadafalch’s architecture is especially prominent if we take into account how the Medieval past inspired him, the beauty of his technical solutions and his particular reinterpretation of modernism. He was a visionary architect and several monuments designed by him can be found in Barcelona. Moreover, you can enjoy interesting guided tours in them that seek to promote and approximate the heritage in a flexible and enjoyable way.

Bearing in mind Puig i Cadafalch’s houses, we discover some defining features, an artistic language composed by his intrinsic character as well as the issues related to the assignment’s nuances.

As every house contains a hint of Puig i Cadafalch’s architectural style, a retrospective of his most unique houses is an aesthetic and artistic challenge in which the visitor can learn and enjoy.

Activities

Therefore, we suggest you to make a circuit through the most interesting houses of Puig i Cadafalch in Barcelona. Casa de les Punxes, Casa Amatller, Palau Baró de Quadras and Palau Macaya. You can download the Puig i Cadafalch Passport, enjoy special discounts, and schedule your itinerary to visit the modernist jewels of Puig i Cadafalch.
