May 2019: International Museum Day

International Museum Day

This May 18th, Culture dresses up! The occasion deserves it, as the International Museum Day will be celebrated all around the world, a festivity which gains more and more participants and attention each year. In fact, who has not heard about it? Raise your hands those who have not taken advantage in any of these events to sneak in behind the scenes of any museum, to access to private spaces, to enjoy of a surprise activity or to benefit from a good cultural offer.

In 1977 the International Council of Museums (ICOM) decided to draw attention to these spaces by creating this celebration in order to get museums closer to the general public. The idea has been so successful that 30.000 museums and 192 countries joined this initiative in 2012. What is the key point? The theme discussed changes every year, which allows organisers to raise awareness of any topic related to culture and museums.

Casa de les Punxes is not oblivious to this celebration and this year wants to do it’s bit. On account of this, a special offer will be hold the International Museum Day and Night. During the Day, you will be able to visit us with an audio guided tour through the main floor and the rooftop for 7€. However, if you prefer to visit us at Night, from 7pm you will be able to visit the former areas with a free tour and enjoy, in our rooftop, of your Estrella Damm beer included in your 9€ ticket. Vermuteja les Punxes

Enjoy the visit to the Casa de les Punxes, and end your experience with a vermouth at Matalaranya restaurant!

Did you know that the origin of the vermouth goes back to the Greek period, when Hippocrates put to macerate wine with absinthe and dictamnus, obtaining the wine called Hippocratic in the Middle Ages?

In the middle of the century is when vermouth appears in the capital of Baix Camp, specifically in Reus, when it was included into the offer of drinks along with the great white wines of the Camp de Tarragona area, such as the varieties of macabeo, parellada and xarel·lo. The vermouth, then, was the last to arrive but in a few years it was consolidated in the Reusian appetizers.

At Casa de les Punxes we want to honour this peculiar liquor, so we launched a promotion that you can not refuse!

This activity includes free access to the museum and a vermouth in our bar. The price: €7 per person.

Are you going to miss it?

*Promo available until 15th April 2019. Ticket useable until the 31st December 2019.
**Vermouth will be served in Matalaranya from Monday to Sunday from 10am to 4pm. The appetizer Bar will be closed from December 24th to January 6th.
